Emergency Services Evaluation

Overview

In May of 2021 the City of Otsego started the process of evaluating the current fire and emergency services provided to the city. All service providers are contracted departments, and work primarily off of a volunteer staffing model. To provide the best service to Otsego residents when it comes to emergency services, City Council looked to improve response times and service levels.

On November 21st 2022, City Council was presented a recommendation to create an independent Emergency Services Department and to hire an Emergency Services Director to oversee the department. City Council directed City Staff to prepare a job description for review.

On December 12th, 2022 City Council approved a job description for an Emergency Services Director. Daryl Rausch, Emergency Services Director was hired in 2023.
